OCAMM in brief
The rationale for establishing a center for materials modeling at the School of Chemical Engineering in Aalto University, in the Otaniemi area within the Helsinki capital region, is to strengthen the atomic-scale modeling effort and promote excellence in this area. The activities of the Otaniemi Center for Atomic-scale Materials Modeling (OCAMM) cover research, education and innovation. OCAMM fosters collaboration within the center, with the community of experimental research groups specializing in materials research in Otaniemi, and with industry. OCAMM has partnered up with several companies as well as CSC IT Center for Science (the Finnish supercomputing center), and we are looking forward to widening our network and deepening our impact. One defining characteristic of OCAMM is its strong vocation to support experimental and industrial materials research with simulation. The center has received generous funding from Business Finland to support our activities over the next few years.
